Nćstkomandi laugardag (29. nóv.) kl. 14:30 mun opna í Laxdalshúsi á Akureyri sýning um Grýlu.  Ţađ er Ţórarinn Blöndal sem hefur unniđ sýninguna í samstarfi viđ Oddeyrarskóla.  Hafa nemendur 2. 3. 4. og 5. bekkjar (smíđahópar) smíđađ Grýlu og hennar hyski undir handleiđslu Brynhildar Kristinsdóttur smíđakennara og myndlistarkonu.  Afraksturinn verđur hluti af sýningu um Grýlu sem verđur í jólamánuđinum í Laxdalshúsi.  Ýmiskonar fróđleikur og myndir af henni verđa til sýnis og hver veit nema hún verđi ţarna einhversstađar í eigin persónu!

Honickman First Book Prize in Photography

This biennial prize offers publication of a book of photography, a
$3,000 award, and inclusion in a traveling exhibition of prizewinners.
Duke University Press will publish the book in association with CDS
Books of the Center for Documentary Studies. The prize, offered in
collaboration with The Honickman Foundation, is open to American
citizens of any age who have yet to publish a book-length work.
Deadline for submission: Materials must be postmarked no later than

25 Under 25: New American Photographers

Every five years, CDS publishes a collection of work showcasing the
talent of twenty-five of America's most promising photographers,
twenty-five years old and younger. This new volume of 25 UNDER 25 will
feature photographs that explore the theme "transitions": what it
means to be in-between, in flux, at odds, in a new state of being -
personally, locally, nationally, or internationally. The deadline for
the 25 UNDER 25 competition is April 28, 2006.

available beginning Sept. 1, 2006 for periods of up to one year.

PDN Student Photo Contest

Located in Austerlizt, New York. The Millay Colony for the Arts hosts
writers, visual artists, and composers of all ages and in all stages

various disciplines are invited for month-long residencies at the
Colony between the months of April and November. The Colony provides
each resident a private room and studio, and meals. There are no fees
charged for a residency. The deadline for residency in 2007 will be
OCTOBER 1, 2006.

Vermont Studio Center

As the country's largest artists' community, the 75 artists and
writers participating each month in 4-12 week independent studio
Residencies, are selected to represent an intentional mix of mediums,
cultures, experience, and ages. The Vermont Studio Center accepts

consider applications received as late as 8 weeks in advance of the

Visual Studies Workshop

Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Mass

A unique residency program for writers and visual artists in the
crucial early stages of their careers, providing seven-month
fellowships to twenty fellows each year in the form of living/work
space and a modest monthly stipend. Fellows have the opportunity to

Arts Fellowship applications is February 1.

The MacDowell Colony

Located in Peterborough, New Hampshire, the MacDowell Colony is the
nation's leading artist colony. The Colony nurtures the arts by
offering creative individuals of the highest talent an inspiring
environment in which they can produce enduring works of the
imagination. The maximum length of residence is two months; an average
stay is four weeks. There are between 20 and 30 artists at MacDowell
at any given time. There are no residency fees at MacDowell; the
Colony is a not-for-profit institution funded mostly by contributions.

Located on Long Island, New York, the Edward F. Albee Foundation
exists to serve writers, visual artists, and composers from all walks

for one month. The standards for admission are, simply, talent and
need.
